As part of the University’s continuous endeavor to develop its scientific journals and under the directions of Prof. Younes Amr, President of the University, al-Quds Open University has included two of its scientific journals to the Digital Commons platform. These journals are, Educational & Psychological Research & Studies and the Palestinian Journal for Open Learning & e-Learning. This would enable QOU to manage and publish refereed scientific journals, in both Arabic and English, and follow the international publishing standards. This comes as a step towards joining the global database “Scopus.”

The Association of Arab Universities monitors the platform through an agreement with the Elsevier Foundation, the founder of the global database Scopus, in order to manage and publish scientific periodicals in Arabic and other languages.

The Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Husni Awad, indicated that one of the most important goals pursued through the project is to provide high-quality technical services, in order to achieve the required criteria for including the scientific journals in the Scopus database. This would benefit QOU’s journals on different levels, such as obtaining more views and a wider distribution, which would increase the number of citations from the journals’ published researches, and contribute to the Arabic intellectual knowledge. Consequently, this would elevate scientific research and the level and quality of knowledge production on a regional level.

Prof. Awad indicated that the editorial team of the journals at the Deanship has completed the collection of the research data, published in both journals (394 research papers in the Educational & Psychological Research & Studies Journal, and 116 papers in the Palestinian Journal for Open Learning & e-Learning). In addition, the team has managed to match the data with the requirements of the platform, through providing the required translation, in cooperation with Adel Zaiter Translation and Languages Center, as well as the data of researchers, in addition to coordinating with technicians and technical support teams at the Association of Arab Universities. Now, researchers and the rest of the public can access the journals through the Association of Arab Universities platform through the following links:
