About the Center
In light of the rapid technological advancement affecting Palestinians in particular and the global community in general leading to the gradual abandonment of traditional ways of life and a growing disconnect from heritage, identity, and history Al-Quds Open University approved the establishment of the Jafra Center for Palestinian Folklore at its Nablus Branch.
The Center, operating under the supervision of the Vice President for Community Responsibility, has a primary mission: to revive and preserve Palestinian folklore by collecting tangible and intangible heritage, organizing traditional festivals and events, and strengthening community engagement through active participation, communication, and the implementation of heritage-focused programs.
Vision of the Center
To revitalize the role of the Palestinian community in preserving our authentic folkloric heritage, thereby strengthening its contribution to protecting Palestinian national identity and advancing the national project.
Mission of the Center
The mission of the Jafra Center is to revive and activate Palestinian folklore, ensuring its transmission to successive generations. The Center aims to raise awareness among younger generations about their cultural heritage and to safeguard it against disappearance.
