Program Transfer for master students

  • A student may transfer from one program to another in the University if there is a vacant seat available in the desired program, and by a decision of the Dean, and the recommendation of the committee of the desired program, if the student had successfully accomplished at least six credit hours with a cumulative average of at least (75%).
  • A student may transfer from a program in another university to a similar program at the University if he/she meets the admission requirements, and there is a vacant seat in the desired program, provided that his/her grade is (very good) or the equivalent, and has successfully accomplished at least (6) credit hours in the current program.
  • The transfer application is submitted to the Deanship of Registration & Admission.
  • When students move from one program to another ; credit hours are calculated as follows:
    1. Maximum (9) credit hours of some of the courses that the student completed in the previous program if the grades in these courses are not below 75% or equivalent. These grades will be calculated in the cumulative GPA if the transfer is from the Faculty while it is not calculated if the transfer is from another university.
    2. For the calculation of the courses taken by at other universities, it is required that the content and level of these courses are similar to the ones in the desired program with a grade that is not below (75%) or equivalent.
    3. Calculating the equivalent courses is decided by the Dean and based on a recommendation from the committee of the desired program.
    4. Taking into account the above mentioned, one semester is deducted from the maximum semesters required to obtain a master degree for each nine calculated credit hours.
    5. The student can switch form Thesis to Comprehensive Exam and vice versa, one time only, provided that there is vacant place and by a decision from the Council and based on a recommendation from the program committee . All accomplished courses are calculated in his/her GPA.
    6. The student can switch form Comprehensive Examination to thesis provided that he/she accomplished not less than 18 credit hours from master program and with a grade that is at least 80% or equivalent. Transfer will be competitive depending on the cumulative averages.
