Al-Quds Open University Participates in the Architectural Conference on "The Role of Sustainable Development in Contemporary Architecture and Urban Planning

 Al-Quds Open University participated in the second architectural conference titled "The Role of Sustainable Development in Contemporary Architecture and Urban Planning".  Dr. Salah Sabri, faculty member at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences along with Eng. Tareq Ahmed presented a paper paper, titled "Obstacles to Sustainable Development in the Housing Sector in Palestine," addressed the major challenges facing the housing sector in Palestine, considering both the specific and general challenges within the Palestinian context.

The conference was organized by the "Arab Architects Association" under the theme "Sustainability: A Goal for Achieving a Healthy and Safe Living Environment.", in Baghdad, Iraq, in collaboration with the Arab Engineers Union and the Iraqi Engineers Union.

Seven Arab countries participated in the conference: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, and Oman. The event was held under the auspices of the Minister of Construction and  Housing, Mr. Bankin Rikani. The conference aimed to shed light on national and regional development policies, particularly in relation to urban planning, to develop visions that align with sustainable spatial planning for cities and engineering. It also sought to find practical mechanisms for improving urban management and municipalities, focusing on balancing centralization and decentralization to provide the necessary resources and address the lack of coordination between departments and ministries.
