Al Quds Open University has been elected as an Executive Vice President of the International Association Open Digital Space for the Mediterranean (e-Omed)

The Board of Directors of the International Association Open Digital Space for the Mediterranean (e-Omed) held its first meeting in its current session (2022-2024) on Monday, March 28, 2022, via Zoom technology, in the presence of the representative of Al-Quds Open University, Dr. Eng. Imad Hodali, the Assistant President of the University for Public and international relations and media.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Hodali emphasized the support of "Al-Quds Open University" for e-Omed, its goals and aspirations, and greeted  the new President, Dr. Malika Belkadhi, who is representing the Virtual University of Tunis in the association, wishing e-Omed continued advancement in digital education and outreach at the Mediterranean level.

Dr. Belkady, also congratulated Prof. Samir Najdi, on assuming the presidency of Al-Quds Open University, wishing him further progress and success highlighting the role of Al-Quds Open University in establishing the organization 11 years ago, as it was and still is one of the active members in the organization’s work on over four sessions of the board of directors (e-Omed) since its establishment in 2011.

The agenda of the first meeting of the  board of directors at its current session, which includes representatives from French, Tunisian, Algerian, Moroccan and Lebanese universities in addition to the State of Palestine, discussed the distribution of positions to members of the new administrative body, where the attendees unanimously approved the election of the representative of Al-Quds Open University, Dr. Hodli, Executive Vice President of the organization for media and development affairs, while other administrative positions were distributed to a number of representatives of member universities.

Electing “Al-Quds Open University ” comes within the framework of the long experience gained by the University and its staff in the field of open education and virtual education, which was manifested during the Corona period; QOU was able to cre its educational process with ease and smoothness by investing in advanced technological infrastructure as well as the competency of its academic and administrative staff.

Dr. Hodli said that he would work through his new position at (e-Omed) to promote and develop the digital content of higher education institutions in the Mediterranean countries, and to attract more universities to join the organization. He added that joining (e-Omed) will provide a great opportunity for exchanging experiences in the field of scientific research and developing digital content, and exchanging e-courses between the universities of the participating Mediterranean countries to reduce the digital gap between the two parts of the Mediterranean (south and north), which comes within the framework of the university's orientation towards Virtual education to include providing educational services to the Palestinian and Arab communities abroad.

The meeting also approved the final minutes of the previous session, both financial and administrative, and discussed the details of holding the organization's next conference to be held in the Italian capital, Rome, in the spring of 2023 in cooperation with (Unimed), and which will be titled: "Virtual Education... Assessment and Accreditation." The meeting also approved the launch of the call to apply for the organization's annual projects, and the date of the next board of directors meeting which is on the twenty-fourth of next June.
