QOU participates in the first virtual conference for university leaders in the Arab world, entitled "Towards a unified vision for Arab universities in achieving the 2030 sustainable development goals"

 Al-Quds Open University, participated in the first virtual conference for university leaders, titled "Towards a unified vision for Arab universities in achieving the sustainable development goals: 2030", which was held on 27-28/07/2021, where Dr. Salah Sabri, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Administrative and Economic Sciences for Graduate Studies and Coordinator of the Administration and Public Policies Program, presented a  paper on the contributions of Al-Quds Open University in achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by focusing on the fourth goal related to quality education, and the fifth goal related to achieving gender equality, Empowering women and girls, the seventh goal related to renewable energy, and the 17th goal related to partnerships to achieve the goals. The paper highlighted the university’s efforts in achieving sustainable development goals through its strategic plans and rational management, with a focus on the aforementioned sustainable development goals.

Its noteworthy that27  Arab universities from different Arab countries participated in the conference; noting that Al-Quds Open University is the only Palestinian university participating in the conference which was held under the auspices of Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities and the Swedish-Iraqi Network for Studies /Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Lund University in Sweden, the International Friendship Organization in the Kingdom of Sweden, and Amman Arab University in Jordan.

The Conference came out with a set of recommendations, the most prominent of which were: Strengthening the partnership between Arab universities with regard to achieving the goals of sustainable development and developing the legal system that supports the involvement of universities in government efforts to achieve sustainable development. The participants agreed on the need for such forums because of their benefit for the Arab higher education sector
