The Faculty of Educational Sciences holds a Webinar on English Language Teaching

 Under the patronage of the President of Al-Quds Open University, Prof. Younes Amr, the Faculty of Educational Sciences at QOU held a webinar for the Faculty Members on the new ELT I and ELT II courses that were developed through a joint project with the American University of Kent, and were implemented by the Faculty in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education and Community Service, in addition to the Open Learning Center.

The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Majdy Zamel, Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, who explained the importance of this webinar in enhancing the skills of the faculty members with the new developments that have occurred in the ELT I & ELT II courses in terms of content, life skills, teaching strategies that are based on employing (ICT) in learning and teaching, and modern methods of teaching, which would qualify students to compete in  labor markets.

 Eng. Hussein Younes, Director of the Open Learning Center, emphasized the importance of such courses in improving the quality of content and services provided to students, and enhancing the faculty members’ capacities in the field of teaching English as a foreign language through providing them with latest methods and modern technologies.

Dr. Khaled Dwaikat, Coordinator of the Graduation Project and one of the main participants in the development of the ELT I & ELT courses, spoke about the importance of these courses, which aim to improve the level of English language proficiency among university students. Dr. Dweikat also represented the content of the courses, the nature of the activities integrated into them, whether face-to-face or online, and examples of these activities, all of which aim to focus on students' higher-order thinking skills and enhance their orientation toward learner-centered learning.

 The workshop concluded with a set of targeted recommendations, the most important of which is urging the students to continuously interact with each other and with the faculty members through the course’s web page.
