QOU Participates in the Ninth Conference on the Quality Assurance of Higher Education

Al-Quds Open University participated in the ninth Arab International Conference for quality assurance of higher education, which is organized annually by one of the Arab universities in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Conference of the Union of Arab Universities. The ninth meeting was held, this year, at the Lebanese International University on 11/4/2019.

The conference was inaugurated by an opening ceremony, under the patronage of Mr. Hassan Murad, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Universities, the Secretary-General of the Mediterranean Universities and representatives of the Lebanese civil and security bodies , and heads of universities and researchers from Arab countries.

Al-Quds Open University was represented by Prof. Marwan Darwish, the Vice University President for Administrative Affairs who attended the ninth meeting of the organizing committee, which discussed the annual financial and administrative report of the General Secretariat of the Conference, the arrangements for the ninth session in addition to reviewing the requests of Arab universities to host the Conference at its tenth session. Prof. Darwish was selected among the committee members responsible of drafting the final statement and recommendations of the conference.

The conference recommended spreading the culture of governance among faculty members to become  aware of its importance in the evaluation of the quality of education outcomes. The conference also recommended ensuring a supportive environment for the application of learning skills in Arab universities, the adoption of joint academic publication among academics in Arab, regional and international universities of advanced centers in international classifications, as well as improving the learning environment of the Arab universities and providing all the basic requirements in order to encourage scientific production and innovation. The conference also called for scientific exhibitions to present the latest innovations and scientific inventions used in education and scientific research, and promote student exchange programs at regional and international Arab educational institutions. It also recommended setting some conditions associated with the promotion of faculty members, including joining some important courses in the development of skills and methods of modern teaching.
