QOU launches the 1st. Jericho Carnival for Tourism and shopping in Cooperation with Several Institutions

Under the patronage of His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, Al Quds Open University launched the first Jericho Tourism and Shopping Festival, which will last for three days. The Carnival is held in partnership with Jericho Governorate, Jericho Municipality and Jericho Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Organized by Marcom Company.

Professor Younis Amr, President of Al Quds Open University, delivered a speech in which he expressed the pride of the  University in this carnival, which is a national demonstration hosted by Jericho despite  of the difficult days experienced by the Palestinian people. Prof. Amr paid tribute to all those who contributed to the success of the carnival, considering it a major national event embraced by Jericho. Prof.  Amr also stressed that the national product is able to compete with Israeli products, pointing to the importance of revitalizing the tourism sector in the province, which is an attractive factor for domestic and foreign tourism.

The Mayor of Jericho, Mr. Salem Groove, said that it is a great honor for Jericho to embrace this event and pointed to the importance of this carnival in terms of political and economic aspects, pointing out that it comes under difficult circumstances for the Palestinian issue.

Dr.  Kamal Salama, Director of Al-Quds Open University Branch in Jericho, Director of the Carnival, said that the Carnival is an important national and economic event hosted by Jericho. The exhibition includes an exhibition to be held on the land of the Arab Development Society to present agricultural products in Jericho and Al-Aghwar governorates.

The Carnival also includes industries, heritage products and Bedouin tents representing the suffering of the refugees. There were also displays of heritage, arts and crafts, a marathon and a bicycle tour, as well as special entertainment for children.
