On Thursday 29/11/2018, the Information and Communication Technology Center (ICTC) at QOU organized the 12th Information Technology and Communication day entitled “Finance Technology” at the Grand Park Hotel in Ramallah and via video conference with Gaza in Roots Hotel under the auspices of H.E. Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah and the sponsorship of JAWWAL.
H.E. the Prime Minister and the honored guests launched the activities of the 12th ICT day. H.E expressed his gratitude to join this platform that influences the development of the government’s work, which is a partner, and a supporter for this activity that aims at collecting expertise in the field of technology and economics in the aim of improving the financial sector based on technology.
The Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority said that this day is a crucial one in the work of the financial technology in Palestine, as technology became a main factor of the banking and financial sector in Palestine and the world.
H.E. the Minister of Education Dr. Sabri Saidam stated that he was honored to join this day as the subject it discussed comes in line with the world’s change towards technology. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees Eng. Adnan Samarah said that QOU is doing its duty towards the Palestinian community and sheds light on the issues of concern to the community; technology of finance is an important issue as we live during the fourth industrial revolution so we have to be updated with the world-changing environment.
QOU President Prof. Younis Amr welcomed the guests during his speech and indicated that this day comes to enhance the culture of technology in the Palestinian community and to help improving this sector in Palestine.
Eng. Saadeh Shibli, the head of the preparatory committee and the Assistant Director of the ICTC at QOU said that QOU is honored to host the guests and indicated that the title of the day was chosen due to the digitalization of all aspects of life and the development of the technology related to finance. By the end of the opening session, Dr. Eng. Islam Amr, the Director of the ICTC launched the activities of the 12th ICT day.
The Scientific Sessions
Two scientific session were implemented during the event; the first session was heeded by Mr. Laith Qassis from the Higher Council for Innovation & Excellence and the rapporteur was Dr. Mohammad Abu Omar from Al-Quds Open University. Dr. Murat Ertu?rul spoke about using mobile technology in financial literacy education, Mr. Fares Alhendi spoke about investment in financial technology advantages and challenges, Dr. Raed Rashid spoke about Block chain and Internet of Things, Dr. Yousef Daraghmeh spoke about Potential Researches in Blockchain Technology, Dr. Mohammad Abu Taha spoke about Chaos based crypto-compression and Blockchain and Dr. Yehia Hasan spoke about security issues and privacy in the e-banks.
The second session was heeded by Dr. Hamzeh Mujahed from Al-Quds Open University (QOU) and the rapporteur was Dr. Mohammad Abu Taha from Palestine Polytechnic University. Mr. Ibrahim A. Bakr Atallah spoke about Government Readiness in e-service and e-payment, Mr. Laith Qassis spoke about Capacity Building of Financial Technologies in Palestine, Ms. Salam Khanji spoke about Blockchain Transforming The Industry, Mr. Taysir Shaqalieh spoke about Smart Contract Concept and Implementation/ VC, Mr. Abed al-Salam Al-Zain spoke about Implementation of Block chain Smart Contracts - A Use Case for Investment and Dr. Mohammed Abu Omar spoke about Technologies behind the cryptocurrencies.
