QOU organizes "Jerusalem: The heart of the Arab-Israeli conflict (A Strategic Vision towards the Future)" Conference

On Tuesday 16/10/2018, under the auspices of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Eng. Adnan Samarah, QOU organized the scientific conference ““Jerusalem: The heart of the Arab-Israeli conflict (A Strategic Vision towards the Future)” in Gaza Strip and via video conference with the West Bank.

The conference was attended by Gaza governor Ibrahim Abu Al-Naja, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Eng. Adnan Samarah, QOU President Prof. Younis Amr and a number of the official figures from QOU and Gaza Strip.  

The conference was opened by welcoming remarks by Eng. Adnan Samarah who briefed the attendees about QOU work and mission besides discussing the historical and political importance of Jerusalem. Prof. Amr welcomed the attendees and delivered a speech about Jerusalem in the Arab-Israeli conflict, he appraised people of Jerusalem steadfastness in their lands despite all of the Israeli violations.

The opening session was followed by opening an exhibition entitled “the city of peace” that was organized by the Ministry of Culture and sponsored by “Mashareq” Company where featured paintings prepared by Palestinian artists were displayed. The paintings reflect the stages that Jerusalem went through and the suffering of its people as a result of the Israeli occupation.

Conference Sessions:

The first session included four research papers and was headed by the Vice President for Gaza Strip Affairs Prof. Jihad Al-Batsh. The papers discussed the situation of Jerusalem in light of Trump’s declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The second session included five research papers and was headed by Prof. Ziad Jirjawi. The papers discussed the role of QOU in the issue of Jerusalem in terms of supporting people of Jerusalem and raising awareness towards its issues. The third sessions also included five research papers and was headed by Prof. Jamal Ibrahim. The papers discussed the local, Israeli and international situations of Jerusalem. The fourth and last session of the conference was headed by Dr. Hasan Ahmed and included five research papers that discussed Jeruslame in the regional and international media.

By the end of the conference, Prof. Majdi Zamil, Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences read the final release of the conference and the recommendations and then the participants and the committees were honored.
