Al-Quds Open University and "Erasmus +" hold a workshop on the Essential Life skills for Labor Market

 On Monday, August 16-2021, Al-Quds Open University and Palestine National Erasmus+ office held a workshop on essential life skills for the labor market. The workshop was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Higher Education Reform Experts (HEREs).

Prof. Samir Al-Najdi, Vice President for Academic Affairs. Inaugurated the workshop and  said "the workshop is one of the activities of the HEREs, the Higher Education Reform Experts, which is  formed by the Erasmus + office in Palestine and headed by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and  added "There are similar committees in most Middle Eastern countries, and today's workshop is one of the committee's activities that conducted similar activities at Hebron University, An-Najah National University, and Polytechnic University."

Prof.  Samir Al-Najdi explained that the workshop is about essential life skills that the labor market needs in the twenty-first century and he highlighted essential life skills, what are life skills? Why they are important? What are Palestinian universities doing to equip students with these skills? And how the student can acquire them during study. Then he talked about the work of Palestinian universities in this field, where "Al Quds Open University" provides a course titled” “ Life skills”, besides other similar courses.

Dr. Nidal Al-Jayyousi, National Erasmus Office Director in Palestine talked about the activities carried out by the Erasmus+ office in cooperation with Palestinian universities, and the important role it plays in following up on Erasmus+ projects funded by the European Union, and the scientific visits of Palestinian university professors and students to European universities. He said "We are happy with the cooperation with Al-Quds Open University and with the strategic relations linking the university to the program, which includes nearly a third of the students in Palestinian higher education."

In turn, the Assistant President of the University for Student Affairs, Prof. Muhammad Shaheen, talked about the experience of Al-Quds Open University within the “Life Skills” course, and its importance in the university, he said: “Life skills are one of the main factors that characterize employability and success in life. Personal skills are now, for some employers, as important as GPA in hiring a new employee
