Two students from Al-Quds Open University managed to design a payment application for paying for taxi fares.

Ibrahim Muhammad Hamouda and Firas Muhammad Sayes, two students in the field of information and communications Technology, succeeded in designing a payment application for taxis (Car cash) under the supervision of Dr. Eng. Yousef Al-Sabah, Faculty Member - Faculty of Technology and Applied Sciences at QOU.

The idea of the application is to function as an electronic wallet, providing the ability to transfer money between users through a QR code that is directed  from passengers to drivers.

The application has also been programmed to run correctly on Android devices, but the Flutter framework used allows the application to work on IOS devices and other platforms with few modifications to the "code" for each.

Dr. Youssef Al-Sabah, the project supervisor, said that the application needs a third intermediary to charge or withdraw credit, which can be done through a partnership with one of the financial intermediation institutions or banks, and also needs a CRM system, indicating that the application can be developed to become an independent electronic wallet.

Dr. Sabah summarized the features of the application by the following:-

§  Facilitating the payment process without disturbing passengers and driver.

§  Avoiding distracting the driver's attention and reducing traffic accidents.

§  Providing an easier way to pay away from cash and the need sometimes  to return change

§  Boosting the electronic payment systems through holding partnerships with a bank or financial intermediary companies to complete prepayment operations.

The students thanked the President of QOU, Prof. Younes Amr, the Director of the University Branch in Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Dr. Hussein Hamayel, the Dean of the Faculty of Technology and Applied Sciences, Dr. Nael Abu Halawa, and the project supervisor Dr. Youssef Al-Sabah, for all the support provided to motivate students creativity and excellence.
