QOU hosts a closing workshop of ROMOR Project

 The Faculty of Technology and Applied Sciences at Al-Quds Open University with the Deanship of Scientific Research and partner universities (Islamic, Birzeit, and Palestine Technical-Khadouri), held a closing workshop to assess the results of Research Output Management through Open Access Institutional Repositories in Palestinian Higher Education / ROMOR project which is an Erasmus+  Capacity Building in Higher Education project . The workshop included presenting the results and impact of ROMOR project and how to achieve long-term sustainability of the project outputs.

The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Samir Najdi, Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs, who explained the importance of the project in developing the capabilities of the University staff in managing scientific research outputs. Prof. Najdi pointed out that "digital repositories have become a scientific requirement for all scientific fields. Universities are competing in the field of establishing databases for universities to keep their products and scientific archives."

Dr. Waleed Al-Salous, Dean of the Faculty of Technology and Applied Sciences at Al-Quds Open University, explained that the work within the project was not limited to the establishment of research repositories, but also included the training of administrative and academic staff and students through academic exchange.

Dr.  Yousef Abu Zer, the project coordinator at QOU, explained the importance of the digital repository for universities, researchers and university staff. He also talked about three e-learning courses that have been developed and translated. Dr. Abu Zer also explained that many students had the opportunity to participate in academic exchanges with European partner universities in Italy, Austria and Glasgow in Scotland.
