Quality Control Department Participated in a Special Workshop for Representatives and Directorates of Quality Control Units

Quality Control Department at Al-Quds Open University participated in a special workshop for the representatives and directorates of the quality assurance units in Palestinian universities and colleges held on Wednesday and Thursday between 8-9/12/2004 in the Ministry of Higher Education. The President of the National Organization for the Approval, Accreditation and Quality of the Higher Education called on for the meeting. Dr. Margaret Lane, the representative of the World Bank Mission attended, and she briefly presented the importance of the application of the system of the guarantee of the quality in the Palestinian universities, and then she presented a report about her visit to Palestine in September 2004.

Bethlehem University, Jerusalem University, Islamic university, and Al-Quds Open University presented their experience of the quality assurance. After the four comprehensive presentations, it is clear that Al-Quds Open University experience is the deepest and the easiest in the application.

At the end of the conference, the participants confirmed that all the units of quality control in the Palestinian universities should be under the same name and title. They asserted that all colleges in Palestine should also join in the quality control, either independently by establishing their own quality control units or by joining nearby universities. The attendants agreed upon the necessity to establish a deep, cultural awareness of the importance of quality control among the employees in all Palestinian universities, whether academics or administrative.
