Al-Quds Open University Participated in a Special Workshop about Self-Assessment and External Evaluation of Universities Members of the Union of Arab Universities

Al-Quds Open University participated in a special workshop about the self-assessment and external evaluation of the universities members of the Union of Arab Universities, held from 4-6 December 2004, in Amman. This workshop aimed at defining the bases, criteria, and methodology of holding the self-assessment and external evaluation, in an attempt to reach suitable and common criteria as well as exchange experience among Arab universities. It also aimed to spread the culture of quality assurance in university education in the Arab world, and to confirm the concepts, definitions, and the terminology related to evaluation and accreditation.

During the workshop, there was a presentation of the experience of the National Organization for the Approval, Accreditation and Quality of Higher Education in Palestine, and the experiment of other universities of evaluation and self-assessment operations.

Mrs. Shadia Makhlouf, the Directorate of Quality Control Department, represented Al-Quds Open University, and presented the most important performances and activities Quality Department achieved from the very beginning. She also presented the experiment of the university towards the application of the Overall Comprehensive Quality Control System, and clarified the four paths plan that the university adopted, and that can be taken into as a model to be followed by other universities.

At the end of the workshop, Mrs. Shadia Makhlouf received a message of gratitude and thanks from the Union of Arab Universities for her active participation in the workshop.
