The department seeks to accomplish the highest standards of professional performance and preparedness which reinforces integration and collaboration with academic and administrative units in the university. It aims at setting up policies, programs and projects, and enhancing its role as a real supporter and facilitator of the comprehensive development process. based on planning to confront challenges and fulfill the university’s present and future demands.

- Professionalism: Planning process needs a team of specialists in strategic planning and its techniques, that have the ability to be a professional reference for other departments of the University.
- Consistency, coordination and cooperation: This department’s function can not be separated from the function of other departments. It is therefore integrated and coherent with other university units and centers to assure harmony in performance according to a clear strategic vision.
- Preparedness and creativity: The department is always ready to provide the administrative and academic units with the information and technical support they need, and the feedback which helps them take decisions and set plans for projects. This makes the department exceed routine work and be creative and renovate methods and techniques and follow up with the new developments making use of other academic institutions experiences.
- Credibility, precision and confidentiality: The department has to keep high standards of credibility and accuracy in taking decisions and adopting strategies. Integration and intersection with other university units should be taken into consideration. Secrecy of other units’ interior confidential data and plans should be preserved.

Objectives
- Establishing a database system covering activities of the university.
- Helping the university administration to set standards for the planning process in administrative, financial, and academic matters.
- Spreading planning awareness and know-how mechanisms among all departments and centers of the university who should implement planning mode.
- Coordination with all departments to evaluate their plans and give them feed- back about it.
- Cooperation and coordination with the university departments to analyze studies and deal with emergent problems.
- Planning for, and running studies about horizontal and vertical expanding according to the universities policy and strategies.
- Coordinating and following up with organizations related to construction for building new centers for the University.
Mission
The department of Planning is one of the basic administrative departments of the university as it sets strategies for planning in cooperation with other university units to set up the strategic plan and executive plan and follow them up to assure planning as a continuously updated process aiming to comprehensively develop and enhance academic and administrative performance.
The Structure of the Department
The Department of Planning reports directly to the University President. The Head of Department is in charge of three divisions whose teamwork aims to fulfill the above mentioned objectives. At present, there are only two divisions which are:
