The Continuing Education Center (CEC)
Al-Quds Open University established The Continuing Education Center (CEC) with the aim of playing a vital role in modernizing the Palestinian society. CEC aspires to achieve this goal by providing technical and training assistance through making its vast academic resources and professional expertise attainable to all sectors of the community.
CEC Target Groups:
The CEC targets the following groups:
1. QOU students, academics, staff and employees.
2. Secondary school graduates (Tawjihi).
3. Palestinian political ex-detainees.
4. Private and public sectors.
5. Foreign students and international guests willing to learn Arabic.
The Training Staff:
All CEC training programs and courses are designed, performed and supervised by:
1. QOU academic supervisors and internal professional trainers.
2. Highly qualified professional trainers from other institutions who meet certain standards.
Labs & Equipment:
QOU has made its computer labs, audio, visual equipment and facilities available to CEC target groups to facilitate the learning and training process all over the West Bank and Gaza.

CEC Objectives & Goals:
- Developing the Palestinian human resources using modern highly standardized training methods and programs.
- Enhancing and developing the technical and administrative skills of the private and governmental institutions.
- Providing training programs aimed at developing the Palestinian women sector.
- Organizing technical and administrative training courses for members of the civil society sector.
- Organizing conferences and conducting needs assessment practices to identify areas of development.
- Developing and training the University’s staff in various computer skills.
- Developing educational programs tailored to decrease the level of illiteracy.
Responsibilities of CEC:
The CEC staff share the following duties and responsibilities:
- Marketing the CEC services and training programs to benefit the Palestinian community.
- Defining specialized training programs in coordination with other universities, centers and departments.
- Arranging the place, and time and assigning staff to conduct and supervise the courses.
- Surveying the academic and professional environment to allocate the right trainers for the various courses to be offered
- Providing trainees with the training materials.
- Facilitating necessary training equipment and tools.
- Supervising, monitoring and evaluating the training courses and issuing certificates for the trainees.
- Supervising and keeping records of all data related to the training programs.
