A B.A. in Administrative and Economic Science
Specialization: Accounting

The Specialization of Accounting aims at preparing and qualifying specialized national cadres to meet the growing demand for accountants in the various sectors of governmental and private economic activity. It also aims at qualifying the student to complete his\her higher studies or get a specialized professional certificate.

General Objectives:

This Specialization aims at preparing the student properly so that s\he can:

  1. Identify the accounting principles common in preparing financial reports with a focus on the importance of accounting in helping the administration in planning, monitoring, and taking decisions.
  2. Identify the accounting criteria common in preparing the basic financial lists.
  3. Prepare cost accounting along with studying and analyzing costs items for the purpose of specifying the final product’s unit cost “commodity or service” as well as evaluating the merchandize inventory and utilizing the costs data in planning, monitoring, and decision taking.
  4. Design and operate accounting information systems in case of manual data operation and in case of computer operation.
  5. Apply the bases of tax accounting and the procedures complied with in the Income Tax Department as well as study the tax system.
  6. Distinguish between the governmental accounting system and the accounting system applied in the business sector.
  7. Present the financial information in the form of reports written in a professional scientific style characterized by objectivity, accuracy and clarity.
  8. Read and explain the published financial lists so as to derive useful financial indicators to help businessmen in the process of taking financial decisions in both the fields of investment and financing.
  9. Study accounting in commercial banks, insurance companies, oil producing companies, private enterprises, agricultural companies as well as accounting in branches and sections.
  10. Make use of the accounting information in planning, preparing estimated balances, and in methods of evaluating performance and monitoring.
  11. Use the computer in various fields of accounting as well as in applying (implementing) the financial accounting systems and monitoring.
  12. Deal with the accounting systems which adopt English.
  13. Study auditing in public and private sectors in accordance with the common international auditing criteria.
