Rafah is one of the Palestinian cities that the Canaanites built when they settled in Palestine. The city is distinguished by its commercial importance given its pivotal geographical location and its impact in trade. It also was the route and meeting point to many troops between Palestine and Egypt. Recently, commerce has flourished and exporting and importing activity has improved.

Rafah Branch

Rafah Branch is the first higher educational institution established in Rafah; it was officially opened in 2000 to serve the Governorate and the nearby areas.

The Number of the enrolled students in the academic year 2015/2016 reached (2050) students.
