"Child Well-Being" symposium at QOU

 Prof. Ravinder Barn, Royal Holloway, University of London, presented a lecture on the Child well-being in the world  and means to provide it to Palestinian children. The lecture was held in cooperation with the Faculty of Social and Family Development at Al-Quds Open University.

Dr. Eng. Emad Al-Hodli, Assistant to the President of the University for Public and International Relations and Media, opened the symposium and pointed out that this event comes within the framework of cooperation between QOU and international academic institutions, including the University of London.

Prof.  Eyad Abu Bakr, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Social and Family Development, said that the Faculty aims to develop its members by providing them with knowledge and experiences of lecturers from other countries, in the field of research and projects on childcare. Prof. Abu Bakr pointed out that Prof.  Barn is specialized in childcare and has  interest in researches and projects on the welfare of children, noting that QOU seeks to benefit from her expertise in this field.

Prof. Barn talked about the challenges facing students. She also talked about the complex situation in Palestine, which has its negative impact on the Palestinian children and their well-being and the need to study the welfare of the Palestinian children living under occupation.

At the end of the lecture, Prof. Younis Amr, President of the University, offered a shield of appreciation to Prof.  Barn, in recognition of her interest in reflecting her experience to the Social and Family Development Faculty member at QOU.  Prof. Amr also thanked Prof. Barn for her willingness to cooperate with the University to provide researches related to the welfare of children, and include Palestine to be among the 33 members globally in Understanding the well-being of children Project.
