Al Quds Open University participates in a panel discussion on the challenges that face cooperatives in Palestine

 Al-Quds Open University, represented Dr. Ma'en Sheqwara, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, participated in the panel discussion entitled on the challenges that face the work of cooperatives in Palestine  which was held at the Grand Park Hotel in Ramallah on 9/7/2019 under the patronage and participation of HE the Minister of Labor Dr. Nasri Abu Jaish, within the framework of “Developing Equitable Agricultural Production and Market Systems for Resilient Economic Development in the occupied Palestinian Territory” implemented by OXFAM and funded  by(SIDA).

The Minister and the attendees stressed the importance of cooperative work in Palestine. They discussed the obstacles that hinder cooperative work. The workshop also concluded the need to have the support of the government to the cooperative work that is one of the pillars of the steadfastness of the Palestinians.

Dr.  Sheqwara stressed on the success of the pioneering idea of Al-Quds Open University, which is the program of the Faculty of Agriculture in Jericho, which depends on training and rehabilitation besides education for employment and working purposes, in cooperation with civil society organizations, including associations, cooperative work institutions and related parties in Jericho and the valleys that provide scholarships for students of the Faculty of Agriculture, along with the allocations of 1000 shekels paid per month to students.

Dr. Sheqwara expressed the readiness of the University to cooperate with donors to hold more agreements that aim to develop the agricultural sector in scientific and research fields, which is one of the political foundations of the resilience of the Palestinians on their Homeland
